Teething Timeline: What to Expect with Kittens and Puppies (and How to Survive It)

Teething is no joke—whether you’re raising a pup or a kitten. It’s a critical stage for both, and it usually comes with chewing, biting, and occasional chaos. Here’s how to recognize the stages and help your pet (and your furniture) survive it.

Puppy Teething Timeline

  • 6–8 Weeks: Baby teeth come in
  • 12–16 Weeks: Adult teeth start replacing baby teeth
  • 6 Months+: Full adult set, behavior should stabilize

Kitten Teething Timeline

  • 2–4 Weeks: Baby teeth emerge
  • 3–6 Months: Baby teeth fall out, adult teeth grow in
  • By 6 Months: Most kittens have their full adult set

Signs of Teething (Both Pets)

  • Chewing or biting

  • Drooling

  • Mild gum bleeding

  • Whining or irritability (yes, kittens do this too!)

  • Biting hands or furniture during play

Teething Survival Tips

  • Frozen Teethers: Soothe sore gums with chilled silicone toys (great for dogs and supervised kittens).

  • Safe Chewables: Our silicone teethers are made from baby-safe materials and work great for both teething puppies and curious kittens.

  • Keep Valuables Safe: Hide cords, laces, and shoes—or anything your teething pet might target.
